When you want to convert your standard boring kitchen into a retro look, you will want to consider your color scheme. Even if you don’t gut your kitchen and start from scratch, you’ll still want to think about colors. Retro items have certain color schemes of their own.

Pastel colors, like aqua blue, pale green and pink signal a retro look. But brilliant red and black are also color values of a retro look. Plain white, even orange can work in a retro kitchen.

You can choose a single color scheme and make that work across your entire kitchen. You can pick one main color and another as your accent color. Think of aqua blue with pink or yellow accents. Think of red with black or white accents.

You can go eclectic with a great selection of many different colored items. That will definitely create a charming look and feel to your retro kitchen. Don’t be afraid to mix up color groupings either. A pastel group of retro items on your kitchen counters, with a table and chairs of bright red with black and white accents.

When you are planning your color schemes for your retro kitchen, make sure the colors you choose are ones that you enjoy. If pink doesn’t fit your style and personality, definitely don’t use it in your kitchen color scheme. You won’t enjoy it and you won’t enjoy being in your retro kitchen.

Pick colors that you feel good about. Whether this is a single color, or groups of accent colors, you want to feel great when you walk into your kitchen. So make it a place that is inviting to you and to your guests.
